Why contracts are necessary to both, players and esport organizations.

When it comes to signing a team, doesn´t matter what kind of esport title, it is of course necessary to negotiate in advance what kind of services the organization wants and what kind of compensation the team. Mutual verbal agreements are still a common form of legitimacy in esports but are neither save to the team, or the organization. There are many examples of organizations not paying for events, or hotels they have promised for, or players not taking part at official matches or fotoshootings. Therefore, every corporate-based esport organization should establish contracts to assure itself and the players of the arrangements being made.

In the end contracts are the only way, to professionalize esports and the business behind it.

I have heard a lot about the issue, not having contracts. Are there any esport related lawyers and legals, except Marian?

I do not really know, there are some lawyers involved in the industry itself, but i do not know if there are legals/lawyers just doing the same thing Marian does.

He Corey,

Next to Marian there are more legal experts specializing in esports. I'm one of those lawyers. At my firm we recognize esports as a "real" sport and within our sports law team we focus more and more on esports. However, I think Marian does an excellent job on "marketing" his skill. Other lawyers should follow his example..

Thanks Nick. Let's join forces in the future. I am sure that the whole eSports business community will profit from a strong network of eSports legal experts all over the world. If everybody can forward to a trusted a colleague, if they are lacking knowledge for a certain territory, that would be great. Additionally, if we manage to set up here a collection of contract templates for various legislations, that also will help!
